Machines are heavy to be Used, Says MD Stanley Ssendegeya

Stanley Ssendegeya Managing Director of Uganda Railway Corporation informed COSACE Committee that the new machines purchased from South Africa in September 2021 for repairing the railway will not be used because they are heavily based on the railway line here in Uganda.
These Machines were purchased from Grindrod a South African company for a sum of UGX 48b, which can last up to 40 years.
Secretary of Uganda Railways Corporation Workers Union Mw. Byemaro informed parliament that these machines can not work in some parts where rails have junctions called “triangles”
Mw. Bymaro said that these machines were brought to Uganda without knowing that they were long to pass on triangles that because from Nairobi they came facing Uganda now they have to face the direction they came from.
The President of the Union James Oketch said the technology of the roads in Uganda is old to accommodate such machines.
